Ryan’s Birthday Weekend: Part 1

As I mentioned in my last post, we spent Ryan’s birthday weekend at Big Bear Lake, about 100 miles outside LA.  We dashed out of work a couple hours earlier to try to beat traffic, but Friday go-home traffic in LA seems to start around noon, so we didn’t really beat much.  We made it to our cabin in the late afternoon.  There was a cute little koi pond by the cabins, which Ryan wanted to fish, just because there were fish in it.

After we had checked in and settled in a bit, we drove into “town” to buy some groceries (after all, our cabin included a full kitchen) and have a look around.

Ryan pulled over onto the bridge/dam that separated the lake to analyze the fishing conditions.

Our shopping cart, stocked with all the essentials.

There were lovely, huge evergreen trees decked out with fairy lights outside our cabin.  This is a terrible photo, but I was obsessed with them.  I love me some fairy lights.

I decided we needed to have a birthday picnic
dinner under the fairy lights and trees.

And that was the end of Day 1.  The rest of the weekend will be posted soon.
