Happy 30-days-til-Christmas! Yes, I’m counting.
Today I added ANOTHER string of lights to our poor tree because I decided it wasn’t bright enough. The tree was supposed to be an exercise in minimal decorating, and I limited ornaments, but apparently there’s no such thing as too many Christmas lights.
I hadn’t planned on blogging food today, but made two yummy meals that turned out well, so here are some recipes! Continue reading
Fish we caught ourselves + a little prep and cooking = delicious (sustainable?) fish tacos
Happy Black Friday, readers! I was lucky enough to have the day off, and we still had two Groupons to hop on a fishing boat in Marina del Rey, so I was up at 6 this morning heading through the crazy fog to the boat launch. Continue reading
Oh, man. So I have to start this with a confession. I thought these were going to be quick little candies to throw together and gift to some folks who I’m going to see tomorrow for Thanksgiving but not again before Christmas. Hours later, I have to say that Food Network lied. Cooking time was NOT 20 minutes. Or maybe they meant you will watch your stove in a panic for 3 hours trying to make sure that more caramel won’t boil over out of your saucepan and onto your impossible-to-clean stove. Apparently everyone who has ever rented this apartment have been midgets or people who just like to contort themselves to wash their hair. So the water barely hit at my shoulder level, and you had to duck weird to get your hair wet and it was the crappiest shower head ever.
BUT NO MORE! Continue reading
This is my first craft project post. For those reading, welcome! I’ll try to break this down in a way that makes sense.
I wanted to make a holiday wreath. Well, that’s not strictly true. I wanted to buy a holiday wreath, but then I went to the store and any kind of decent looking wreath was upwards of $40. The good ones were $60. On my poor, young-person-schlepping-in-LA budget, a wreath wasn’t something I’d spend more than a night out with friends on. So I headed to my trusty local 99 Cent Only (we don’t have real dollar stores here, this is the best we’ve got, but it’s not a bad little store) and bought me some supplies. Continue reading
